IN REVIEW: The Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City

The Newtown Plaza Hotel is located in C.M. Recto Street corner Leonard Wood Road in Baguio City. It is a relatively new hotel in town; very evident by its new furniture, interiors and facade. The Korean translations in every signage within the hotel vicinity made us think that the owner/s might be Korean Nationals; or it might be that the main target market of the hotel are Koreans who, according to the Department of Tourism Website, are the number one foreign visitors of the country by far. Nonetheless, our overall stay in this hotel was very convenient and satisfying.

Here are some specific reviews that we have for the hotel:
  1. The hotel is strategically located at the center of major tourists destination in Baguio City.  It is within "walking distance" to the Botanical Garden.  It is a few meters away to Mines View Park, Wright Park, Baguio Country Club, Burnham Park, Baguio Cathedral, Saint Joseph Parish, Good Shepherd Convent, etc.
  2. For our Born Again Christian Brethren, there is a Sunday church service in the hotel lobby courtesy of the Greenhills  Christian Fellowship.
  3. The hotel standard rooms are very spacious and worth the price of roughly Php. 3,000/night.
  4. The view from the roof deck is beautifully amazing and will make you realize that a "GRAND DESIGNER" exist.
  5. There is a live band performing at the hotel lobby every night (at least during our stay) which makes the night romantic for couples spending time together.
  6. The foods in their in-house restaurant are very basic to taste. Nothing special and unique.
  7. The high elevation going to the main hotel entrance is not conducive for a supposed-to-be relaxing vacation.
