This is the exact expression I told myself upon the seeing the diversity of living organisms under the ocean of Cagraray Island in Bacacay, Albay, Philippines.
It was our first time to try SCUBA (Self-contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) diving. Initially, we were very excited because we were trying out something extreme, something we never did before. But as our turn nears, apprehensions started to linger in our minds.

"What if there were sharks lurking in the ocean's deep, waiting for someone to devour?"
"What if the ocean current became so strong, and lead us to the abysmal depths of the ocean?"

"What if the diving tank runs out of gases, while we are in the ocean floor?"
These apprehensions are just normal. After all, we are just human beings. To counter this feeling, we started praying; invoking GOD to protect us and guide us as we explore the wonders of His creations. God did not disappoint. He protected and guided us. Much more, He revealed Himself to us thru His majestic creations under the ocean.
There were plenty of Macroalgae, Corals, Fishes, Molluscs, and etc., that can be observed in a 15-meter deep dive. One could only imagine how vibrant and vast the biodiversity thriving in a much deeper dive. No wonder why so many people are becoming enthusiasts of SCUBA diving.
Never did we ever image that we are going to have an experience to see these creatures face-to-face, in their natural habitat, very alive and lovely. This close encounter with marine life made us guilty, as a human, of the many serious abuses that we inflict againts nature. And these abuses were made, sadly, by our unconscious and insensitive actions. In short, our SELFISHNESS.
We just hope that the government, together with the people, will join hands in ensuring the protection of marine life, not just here in the coast of Albay but in all parts of the world.
